Kameyama: an encounter with a turtle-shaped mountain

Kameyama, named after the “turtle-shaped mountain,” was a performance created during my residency at Arts Itoya in Takeo, a small town nestled among hills and forests in Kyushu. Inspired by Yamabiko, the yokai of mountain echoes, the performance traces sound as it bounces and transforms—from rocks, field recordings, and voice—forming a dialogue with this nature spirit.
